Ten Vital Bodies In Astrology
|
|
From the first time that humans looked toward
the sky and began to chart the movement of the sun, moon and the
planets, men have been assigning meaning to what they saw. It wasn’t
enough to simply record where the sun moved, when an eclipse happened
or when a planet was brightest, complex and varying stories and myths
were given to each celestial event to help explain things that were
happening in the observer’s own life.
If crops failed, it was blamed on the stars. If war broke out, it
was blamed on the stars. Let’s take a look at ten of the heavenly
bodies that astrologers assigned meaning to and what each body meant.
·The Sun – Not only was the sun the easiest body to see in the sky,
it provided light, warmth and life. Most cultures saw the sun as a life
giver, not vengeful or angry, but almost judgementless. A benign and
powerful giver of life and wellness.
·The Moon – The moon, to many early astrologists, represented the
unconscious mind and stood for emotion and desire. It often had a
negative connotation, simply because it was thought the moon help power
over the weak to indulge in their inner most desires. The old
superstition of a full moon altering people’s behavior or even turning
some into werewolves stems from the idea of the moon holding a
mysterious power over one’s emotional side. The Moon is also associated
with Monday, short for MoonDay.
·Mercury – This planet is named after the Roman messenger god of the
same name and thus the planet Mercury is thought to be the body that
rules things like communication, rationality and logic, as well as
transport. It is thought to bring out people’s curious nature, as well
as being vivacious and inconsistent. Mercury is thought to rule over
Wednesday. In astrology practiced in China, Mercury is ruled over by
the element of water. In India, Mercury stands for intelligence.
·Venus – Venus is one of the brightest objects in the sky after the
sun and the moon. It is named after the Roman god of love and the
planet is thought to control love in astrology. The planet is also
thought to affect things like beauty, harmony and it plays an important
role in people wanting or not wanting to get along. Throughout time and
culture, Venus has represented peace, love and human potential. Venus
is the planet for Friday and in Chinese astrology it is associated with
metal.
·Mars – Maybe no other planet is better known than Mars. The
planet’s place as bringer or war, aggression and terror is well known
in most every culture. It is also associated with confidence and
impulsiveness. Mars is usually associated with Tuesday and it is a fire
element in Chinese astrology. Mars role as a bringer of war is apparent
throughout human literature highlighted by H.G. Wells The War of the
Worlds where invaders from Mars come to Earth to wipe out human
civilization.
·Jupiter – The biggest planet in the solar system is associated with
happiness and joy. Jupiter rules over Thursday and is also associated
with higher education, religion and growth. Many also believe Jupiter
plays a role in protection, since it does protect the Earth from many
wayward comets and asteroids by using it’s gravitational pull to absorb
many hits that would otherwise strike the Earth.
·Saturn – The final planet in the original seven planets that ruled
astrology for years, Saturn is seen as cold and lifeless and is
associated with ideas such as structure and sadness. In India, the
planet is thought to bring bad luck. Saturn is tied in with the day
Saturday and it is an Earth element in China.
·Uranus – While some astrologers don’t even acknowledge Uranus
because it was not one of the original seven bodies, to the rest of the
astronomers who have accepted it, Uranus stands for ideas and genius.
It is also associated with controversial or extreme politics, as well
as modern inventions. The association of Uranus with these things stems
from the time of its discovery being so closely associated with the
French Revolution and the American war for independence.
·Neptune – The interpretations of Neptune are all over the place. It
can stand for spirituality and religion, just like Uranus, but it is
also associated with drug use and altered mental states. The discovery
of Neptune happened around the same time that anesthetics were
discovered, hence the association with altered mental states.
·Pluto – While Pluto isn’t a planet anymore, it is still given
astrological significance. It is associated with renewal and also
associated with great and terrible power and corruption because of the
time of its discovery coincided with the height of power of Stalin.
Astrology is filled with colorful and interesting stories about how
heavenly bodies influence us. It may seem strange at first, but there
might just be more of a link between these objects in the sky and human
behavior than you might think.

Chinese Astrology Explained
|
|
Are you confused about the meanings of Chinese astrology? Would you like to know more about this 5000 year old art?
Chinese astrology is based on the lunar calendar. As with astrology
from other cultures, a horoscope is created using the position of the
stars and planets for each of the twelve signs of the zodiac based on
the year of birth.
The Twelve Chinese Signs
Rat
Rats are charming and attractive to the opposite sex. But despite
outside appearances, they are restless and this sometimes comes across
as aggressiveness. Rats are great with money, and love to pounce on an
opportunity. They are also very generous to their friends. They love
people and large gatherings and always have others around. They also
run in many intimate circles and like to be involved in everything they
can, leading them to sometimes attempt to do too much. They are good
writers and speakers, and success comes easily to them.
Ox
Oxen are calm on the surface, but have hidden tempers. They are hard
workers and are determined to the point of stubbornness. However, this
makes them one of the most dependable signs. They are trustworthy, and
easily move up at the office. If they don't watch out, they may not
have much of a social life. They are not very adept at mind games, and
can sometimes be led astray in romance. But once they find someone,
they are steadfast and loyal.
Tiger
Tigers are energetic and unpredictable. Their wild side leads them
to be the center of attention. They speak their mind and are always
looking for the new party or next great idea. They are also very
involved in giving their time and money to the causes they are
passionate about. They are generous and honest. However, they are also
rebels. They seek ideals and will rebel against a society they perceive
as being in the wrong. They are emotional and impulsive, prone to
romance as well as jealousy.
Rabbit
Rabbits are gracious and gentle. They adore quiet and peacefulness,
and prefer a good book to a night on the town. Their sensitivity can
lead to moodiness, but normally rabbits are great at keeping the peace.
While they are quiet on the surface, rabbits are good at finding deals.
They are sweet and can talk people into being on their side of an issue
without argument. While they are cautious, they can also be friendly
and inviting once they feel safe.
Dragon
Dragons have fire. They are full of life, and want to live life to
the fullest. They are perfectionists and are extremely demanding of
both themselves and others. They intimidate those who disagree with
them, although they are very loyal to their friends. They can be
stubborn, but they will let you know how they feel. They believe
themselves to be strong and loveable, and they strive to motivate
everyone to live up to their standards.
Snake
Snakes are mysterious, often charming the opposite sex. They are
graceful, and tend towards all things grand and cultural. They are
private tend to look inward for their self-esteem, and are
superstitious about everything. They are not penny-pinchers, but always
have money on hand. Snakes are jealous when they find a lover, and will
turn cold almost on a whim.
Horse
Horses are generally friendly. They love being the center of
attention, and will keep others enthralled by their quick wit. However,
they have malleable alliances, and will have many short-lived romances
and friendships. They enjoy the change, and lead lives full of
adventure. They don't like being tied down, and love working out and
spending time outdoors. They don't like sticking to a plan, and will
often take on too much. They can be impatient with others whom they
perceive as moving too slowly.
Sheep
Sheep are peaceful people. They empathize with others' pain, and are
easy to talk to. They don't like to rush, and will break if pressured.
They do not like harsh words, and love to be led gently. While they are
passive, they are also patient, and generally they eventually get their
way. They always remember their friends and families and give
thoughtful gifts. They often worry about what others think, and tend
too spend too much.
Monkey
Monkeys are intuitive and clever. They are hands-on problem solvers,
and a great deal of self-confidence. They enjoy succeeding at difficult
tasks, and don't need to be talked into attempting one. The source of
their success is their great memory. They are hard workers, and don't
care what others think of them. They don't usually have many friends,
although their success does attract people to them.
Rooster
Roosters are romantics. They are perfectionists and dreamers at the
same time. Quick to see detail, they always love a challenge,
especially if at first glance it looks impossible. They take great
pride in knowing all the details of a subject that interests them, and
are thus great debaters. However, they will never admit to being wrong.
They also tend to step in and try to solve others' problems, whether or
not they have been invited to do so. They like to always stay busy, and
will work for whatever they have their eye on.
Dog
Dogs are friendly and are always up front about their feelings. They
are very family-oriented and are extremely loyal to their friends. They
will fight for a cause they feel is just. They are not comfortable
around extravagant wealth, and prefer a loving home regardless of
social status. Once you befriend a dog, they will be by your side for
life. They are monogamous, and tend to choose their lovers wisely. They
work hard and play hard, and know when it is appropriate to be doing
one or the other. They are good providers to those they love.
Pig
Pigs love a social life. They have many friends, and tend to stay
out of heated discussions and all kinds of debates. It's not that they
don't have an opinion; they simply love to party and don't want to risk
ruining the fun. They are good listeners, but are sometimes gullible
and can be taken advantage of easily. This can sometimes hurt them in
relationships. They are trustworthy and dependable, and stick by their
friends. They are generous to those they care about.
The Five Elements
There is another layer to Chinese astrology that is less well known
than the Chinese signs. Chinese astrologers use a 60 year cycle, made
up of five sets of the twelve signs. The five repetitions of the signs
each correspond to a different element, adding more intricacy to the
animal.
The five elements are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth.
In Chinese astrology, the elements are part of a cycle; one is not
higher or better than another. In fact, they have a cyclical
relationship, both in positive and negative ways, so that:
Water makes Wood
Wood makes Fire
Fire makes Earth
Earth makes Metal
Metal makes Water
and:
Water destroys Fire
Fire destroys Metal
Metal destroys Wood
Wood destroys Earth
Earth destroys Water
In addition, they can be openly aggressive and hostile:
Water resists Fire
Fire resists Metal
Metal resists Wood
Wood resists Earth
Earth resists Water
So now you know the basics of Chinese Astrology. Enjoy exploring your Chinese sign!

Astrology Shadow Signs
|
|
Each Sun sign in astrology, also has its
shadow side, which is why the very first thing I do when I fall in love
is grab that person's birthdate! I want to know how that person is
going to treat me once the first bloom of love has worn off the rose.
Most of us are familiar with the positive personality characteristics
of each sign, i.e- for example Leos are warm, funny, affectionate,
Geminis are ambitious, witty, charming and smart, but few of us are
aware of each sign's shadow side. Only here in the psychic realm, will
you learn the honest truth about your beloved's personality and what is
the ABSOLUTE WORST that can happen ... so watch out because ...
An ARROGANT ARIES will tell you how much he loves you, but in the
same breath, that you must be eliminated because you are getting in the
way of his plans for total world domination. He will also leave his
dirty socks around and burn the toast.
A TOTALITARIAN TAURUS will boast and brag and bully you into
submission, but just one little words of sarcasm from you and you will
find him balled up in the fetal position crying in the closet. Also a
Taurus can't have sex without picking a fight first.
A JABBERING GEMINI will steal your money from you and then help you
look for it. Also he'll make up wild stories about your alleged
bisexuality and tell them to his friends. A master of miscommunication,
he'll keep you home alone, by the telephone, waiting fo his call.
A CALLOUS CANCER will give you a gift and then make you pay for it,
not with money, but with sexual favours, emotional blackmail and pieces
of your very soul. An expert hostage taker, a Cancer uses self-pity and
sarcasm to torture his victims and rap them in a prison of
low-self-esttem.
A LAZY LEO will do everything to woo you ... date you, charm you,
move in with you, impregnate you and spend Christmas dinner with your
family, yet, while filling out a job application, still check the box
that says his status is "single".
A VENGEFUL VIRGO will turn up his nose at your taste and then slowly
begin to mold you into his vision of the perfect woman. You can never
please him, but if you try to leave, he will stalk you for the rest of
your life to try and get you back.
A LASCIVIOUS LIBRA is the first to tell you "I love you but I'm not
in love you." He might as well pee on your leg and then tell you it's
raining... soon you get the sense he/she are keeping their options open
in case someone better comes along...
A SCHEMING SCORPIO is voted most likely to try and convince you to
have sex without a condom. Later on in the relationship, he will also
try to convince you that having three way sex with a hired prostitute
is the only way to save your relationship.
A SILLY SAGGITARIUS will chase you and woo you until he has pierced
you with his arrow of love. You'll soon realize your just another pelt
on this hunter's belt after he tells you all about his plans for his
next romantic conquest, shortly after having sex with you.
A CAPITALISTIC CAPRICORN will coldly pretend he is in love with you,
as long as you are useful to him in terms of social or business
connections. This social climber, doesn't want a girlfriend, he wants a
pretty parrot with no mind of her own who faithfully repeats what he
says...
AN ASSININE AQUARIUS will go on for hours and hours about your deep
connection as soulmates then forget your birthday. Easily distracted by
pretty colours and shiny things, this flighty male is easily led astray
by other women.
A PIOUS PISCES can only be described as "Christ without, Satan
within." This long suffering martyr has a Ph.d in co-dependency and
knows how to reel women in with shiny promises. However once you take
the bait, you are trapped forever in the belly of the beast.

A Foundation For Astrology
|
|
Astrology studies the celestial bodies
affects on humanity. In particular human fate, destiny, and personality
were described by the celestial influences of the stars and planets.
The roots of Astrology can be traced back to the first or second
century BC. Many ancient cultures such as the Egyptians, Babylonians,
and Chinese practiced forms of Astrology. Although, the methods of
Astrological forecast differed slightly from culture to culture there
still remained many fundamental similarities between them.
For example Chinese Astrology which evolved convergent to western
Astrology had some major differences. The most fundamental difference
being the use of the moons 28 day cycle through the heavens as opposed
to the Suns* 365 day cycle around the earth(*Note: The Sun does not
revolve around the earth but during this period it was the popular
belief). The earliest Chinese zodiac divided the lunar cycles into 4
groups each corresponding to a different season and 7 sub groups
corresponding to specific lunar mansions in the season. The seasons
were given animal based names for example: Spring=The Green Dragon of
spring, summer=The Red Bird of Summer, fall=The White Tiger of autumn,
and winter=The Black Tortoise of Winter.
Even though the use of the moon in Chinese Astrology opposed the use
of the suns movement through the celestial bodies in the Babylonian and
Egyptian disciplines some similarities still existed. These
similarities included the use of elemental attributes assigned to the
planets. For example Saturn= Earth, Mars=Fire, Mercury=Water,
Venus=Metal, and Jupiter=Wood. In addition to this similarity the
Chinese zodiac also has 12 signs like its western counterpart.
The western use of the sun as the foci for Astrological studies
stemmed from the pre heliocentric model of the universe. In particular
Egyptians may have contributed greatly to the earth centered model of
the solar system. They believed a giant dung beetle pushed the sun
through the sky like a giant piece of dung. This earth centered model
of our solar system coincidentally seemed to arise around 1.5 BC right
around the time the Egyptian and Babylonian studies of celestial
objects began.
As you may suspect there are different schools of thought on
Astrology. These include Moon signs, Sun Signs, and animal signs. The
popular horoscope used in your local newspaper for example is probably
based on your sun sign. In contrast the Indian Vedic school of thought
would be more concerned with your moon sign. While the Chinese system
uses animal signs in their zodiac and is based on the twelve year Jovan
cycle. Some even speculate that there may be correlation between
Astrological studies and the Tarot deck.
In conclusion, Astrology has substantial scientific, historical,
societal, and spiritual foundations. However you look at it the
influences of the planets and constellations on our lives is evident in
our every day lives. From the ebbing and rising of the oceans' tides
alone it should be apparent that the immense power of the moon has
profound affects on our planet. In addition based on this it would
stand to reason that as humans composed mostly of water the celestial
bodies (ie the Moon) do have a profound impact on our moods,
personality traits, and interactions with others. Wouldn't it?

How Can Astrology Help Your Health?
|
|
For the skeptics, there is medical research
to prove certain illness are common in individuals born in particular
months of the year. An example is schizophrenia. It is common in
persons born in the months of January and February. Astrology really is
a science. The revolution of the earth has a profound effect on
behavior, mood, sleep and for the sake of this discussion, immune
systems. through effective astrology, it possible to lose weight.
It all starts with getting an astrological chart done. Computer
programs are very useful in this respect. The next step is
understanding the chart, from planet to planet and house to house.
There are many books in print to facilitate the chart’s interpretation,
as it is a personal issue.
It then becomes easy to apply the necessary measures to attain good
health. Astrology describes with immense accuracy the constituent of a
person’s makeup particularly the immune system, functional and
structural weaknesses. Your star sign may just be an indiciation of
health issues to come and healthy healing remedies available through
alternative healing practices.
There are many people with hypersensitivity to conventional
medication, pollutants as well as environmental and household
chemicals. Astrology helps people tell which elements are harmful and
avoid them altogether. Astrology has unearthed a variety of healing
modalities that are used in conjunction with alternative medicine and
alternative healing remedies for those who wish to reduce the chances
of side effects and heal naturally.
• Neptune has great influence here. It is a symbol of heightened sensitivity whether physically, mentally or emotionally.
• Taurus and Capricorn suggest bodywork and nutritional or chiropractic therapies.
• The element of water characterized by Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer suggest psychic healing, art therapy and psychotherapy.
• The fire signs of Sagittarius, Leo and Aries respond well to exercise programs like qi gong and t’ai chi.
• Aquarius, Libra and Gemini, the air sings do very well with
acupuncture, scheduled rests and yoga as the best ways of recharging
their nervous systems. this is vital considering that such peoples
systems get over stimulated very easily.
The science is still growing and there is plenty to uncover. Reading
widely is a necessity. Like medical dosage, it is important to time
treatments. The full moon has an influence on surgery. Its appearance
is an indication of hemorrhaging after surgical procedures. Pluto and
Mars on the other hand portend quick recovery in addition to swift
surgery. Health is a sum of total of mental wellbeing relationship
success and physical alertness and bodily fitness. Astrology is the
vehicle that brings all these aspects together. It is simple to
administer, safe and to an extent, horoscopes are interesting to read
and follow on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
As the field of astrology, which is fairly new in regard to
scientific research grows, so will the connection between astrological
signs and alternative health related treatments. The signs of the stars
can be a great indication of future health problems, health concerns
and health treatments.

Indian Matrimonials And Astrology
|
|
Astrology is considered to be the oldest of
all sciences, which studies the effects of the planetary positions and
movements on our lives. Indian Astrology is an integral aspect of the
Vedic literature (Vedic Astrology) and was practiced over the years by
Indian sages and passed on to their disciples. In olden days, the kings
would depend on astrology to determine the right and auspicious time
before embarking on any new and important initiatives. Ages later,
today, we still find the strong influence of astrology in our
day-to-day life. Any major event in life, whether it is marriage,
buying a car, buying a house, or even entering a new house, is
undertaken only after consulting the astrologer for an auspicious time.
Astrology is in-depth science with multiple widespread branches. It
is used to create birth or natal charts (Jathaka / Janampatri) based on
the time, date and place of birth, to answer any specific questions
‘Prashnas’, to find the auspicious time and day called ‘Muhurtha’.
While all of these aspects of astrology are well in use today, one of
the most popular one is the creation of Jathaka’s and matching of
Jathaka’s for marriages. Marriage is an important aspect of life. In
India, when a child is born, the exact place, date and time is
documented and when the child grows older his/her natal chart is
created based on this birth data. When the child attains marriageable
age, his/her natal chart is matched with those of prospective brides
and grooms to find an astrologically compatible match. This is an
age-old tradition, which is practiced with equal fervor even in this
tech-savvy, net-savvy age.
It is interesting to note that, thousands of years ago astrology was
imparted by the teachers to their pupils orally. During the beginning
of ‘Kali Yuga’ the astrological literature was documented for the
future generation. Today, the essence of astrology has been captured
and converted into astrological software. These software’s are
immensely accurate and provide extensive reports based on scientific
calculations. One such service is provided on the website
http://www.BridesandGroomsIndia.com, which is an Indian matrimonial
site. The Astrology section provides various astrological services like
horoscope / natal chart generation, horoscope / natal chart matching
for compatibility, star matching for compatibility.
Indian Astrology is an integral part of the Indian culture and most
of the marriages are consummated only after consulting an astrologer.
At BridesandGroomsIndia.com a genuine effort is made to help
prospective couples figure out whether they are compatible to be bound
in the holy wedding knot.

What Is Tarot Astrology?
|
|
Tarot astrology is the system through which a
reading of the cards in a tarot deck help you through troubled times by
offering a reflection on your past, present and future. Tarot is
closely associated with astrology as each card relates to a planet,
element, or astrological sign.
Tarot cards are used for divination, often known as fortune telling.
But, many psychologists have used them as well, feeling that the cards
often make patients delve in to how they feel about themselves. This is
done through the subconscious. For example, let’s say you know work is
not going well, but you do not allow yourself to think about it.
Getting a tarot card reading that shows you need to change occupations
is not really telling your future so much as it is making you face what
is really going on in your life.
A tarot card deck consists of 78 cards that fall into two
distinctive parts. The first part is called the Major Arcana. This part
of the deck has 22 cards, 21 suitless cards referred to as trumps and
one card called The Fool. It is believed that these cards represent
different stages of life that we go through. Many are recognizable such
as the Magician (associated with the planet Mercury), the Lovers
(associated with the astrological sign Gemini), and the Death card
(associated with Scorpio).
The other 56 cards are in the Minor Arcana. Arcana is taken from the
Latin word “akanum,” meaning secret. The Minor Arcana is divided into
four suits, just like regular playing cards. The four suits are the
Cups, the Wands, the Swords, and the Pentacles. Each of these cards
represents a certain element of the Earth and is associated with
certain astrological signs. The Cups represent water and are associated
most closely with Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. The Cups stand for
emotions, spirituality, and the unconsciousness. The Wands represent
fire and are associated with Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. The Wands
stand for action, creativeness, and personal growth. The Swords
represent air and are associated with Libra, Gemini, and Aquarius. The
Swords stand for the mind, intelligence, and knowledge. The final suit,
the Pentacles, represents earth itself and is associated with Taurus,
Virgo, and Capricorn. The Pentacles stand for the physique, bodily
experiences, and practicality. In addition to the four suits, there are
also Court cards including the King, Queen, Prince, and Princess for
each suit.
The Minor Arcana cards provide more details to the Major Arcana
cards. The Major Arcana gives an individual direction and information
about their personal life and emotional and mental state. The Minor
Arcana cards offer additional guidance in areas such as relationships,
activities, failures, and successes. The Major Arcana cards are seen as
more spiritual while the Minor Arcana cards are seen as material.
Over the years, the interpretation of the cards has evolved. Modern
decks of tarot cards are much more expressive that then earlier
version, due in part to the pictures being more closely associated with
their meaning. Tarot readers prize their cards and often will not let
others touch them as they are viewed as sacred tools of their trade.
Many card sets are often viewed as works of art because of the detailed
pictures on each one.
Finding a psychic for a tarot reading is easy. If you are looking to
visit a psychic in person, check in your local Yellow Pages under
Psychic. If you live in a remote area or are leery of visiting a
psychic in person, you can also get tarot card readings online. If you
use your favorite Internet search engine to search on “free tarot
reading,” you will find many sites appear. If you are leery that free
readings might not be as accurate as paid reading, you can also find
online psychics who will charge to do a reading. Some psychics will
base their charges on how many questions you wish to ask about the
reading while some will just charge a flat fee for so many minutes.
Whether you get a tarot card reading online or in person, there are
several things you should keep in mind. The tarot card reading should
not scare you, but rather give you a better understanding of yourself.
They will help you with not only what your future holds, but also what
is presently going on in your life. You should leave the reading with a
positive attitude and feeling enlightened.

Astrology And Birthstones
|
|
Gems have been used from times immemorial for
luck and as good omens.Kings and queens are reported to be craving for
the possession and pursuit of beautiful gems and stones. Our
fore-fathers have used them to ward off evil spirits, to bring luck and
favor as well as to prolong their longevity. Some astrologers prescribe
wearing of appropriate gemstones or birthstones as they are commonly
called as remedial measures for mitigating the malefic effects of some
planets. This is akin to a doctor prescribing medicines to a patient.
The venerated Indian astrologer Varahamihira, in his magnum opus
“Brihat amhita” (chapters 80 to 83 ), refers to gems and their
examination. Gems are said to be born of the bones of the demon Bala
while some opine they were born of sage Dadheechi and have
characteristic qualities of the earth. The list given by him includes
diamond, sapphire, emerald, agate, ruby, bloodstone, beryl, amethyst,
vimalaka, quartz, pearl, sughandika, opal, conch, azure, topaz, brahma
gem, jyoteerasa, sasyaka, coral, moonstone etc. Diamonds that show
scratches like crow-feet (kaakapadam), bees or hair , are mixed with
colored minerals substances or gravel, have double facets, are burnt,
discolored, lusterless or perforated, are inauspicious. So are those
that are covered with bubbles, split at the points, flattened, or
oblong. Diamonds that are triangular, trigonal and like the coriander
seed or the buttocks are productive of good results to ladies desiring
male offspring. Best pearls are those that are got from pearl-oysters.
Everyone who went to school is aware of the word SPECTRUM. When
white light passes through a prism, the emergent beam is composed of
seven (7) different colors, commonly known as the acronym VIBGYOR i.e.,
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet in the reverse
order. The same effect is observed in a rainbow. It is believed that
our body contains these seven colors in different proportions. If the
colors are balanced, the owner is lucky – healthy and wealthy. Any
deficiency or excess of one or more rays causes mental or physical (or
a combination) problems. The principal gems represent or signify
planets and luminaries (sun and moon). The astrologer examines the
horoscope and determines which planet (or planets) is antagonistic to
the native and prescribes the birthstone to be worn with details of
what to wear, when to wear and how to wear.
Ruby, Pearl, Coral, Emerald, Topaz, Sapphire, Diamond, Agate, and
Cat’s eye respectively refer to Sun,Moon,Mars,Mercury,
Jupiter,Saturn,Venus,Caput (Rahu),and Cauda (Ketu). AGATE is said to be
good for the heart, Amethyst cures sterility, Beryl enhances love and
affection, Coral protects from epidemics, metorrhagia etc., Diamond
cures plague, insomnia, charms, ensures safe delivery , Emerald is said
to be good for the brain, increases memory power, ensures chastity,
cures dropsy, epilepsy, hysteria, dysentery , Pearl is recommended for
chastity, Ruby protects one from poison, plague, banishes melancholy,
Sapphire assures good fortune, peace, comfort while Topaz denotes
sympathy, re-possession of lost things.
Proper selection of a gemstone is done after a minute consideration of :
• Sun sign
• Ruling ascendant
• Lord of the ruling ascendant
• Debilitated or afflicted planets
The fundamental principle followed is the determination of the ray
or rays causing abnormalities. The celestial bodies are known to emit
different colors in the spectrographic analyses. One of the important
uses to which this knowledge can be applied is medical science. The
curative powers of gemstones have been studied by some who have opined
that a proper and restrictive use of some gems can bring upon
significant changes in the health of patients and even cure them
altogether. Thus, the twelve houses of the native’s horoscope are said
to signify different parts of the body. The first house denotes the
head and the brain while the fifth house points towards the stomach and
the intestines. Similarly, the zodiacal signs refer to the various
human organs. The fingers are significators of various ailments and
body parts. The birth star and the Drik ( 6th, 8th and 12th ) houses
are also to be taken into account while recommending a birthstone for
healthy living. The birth star is the constellation in which the moon
resides at the moment of one’s birth. There are 27 (twenty-seven)
constellations in Indian astrology each sub-divided into four parts or
“padas”. At times, Abhijit is also considered as a constellation
occurring in Capricorn. In electional astrology, Abhijit muhurta is
said to alleviate any affliction and hence if no appropriate or
auspicious moment is possible immediately, recourse is taken to this.
Not only do birthstones help in health problems, they are worn to
increase one’s wealth as well. Thus, Emerald denoting Mercury is
beneficial for one dealing with liquid cash, shares and stocks, Jupiter
for those dealing with properties, buildings and jewellery etc. The
moon in the male horoscope and the sun in the female horoscope are
important for prognosticating wealth matters. Jupiter is considered for
success and Venus for pleasures in one’s life. Jupiter’s placement in
eastern side i.e., aries to virgo assures early success in life. The
2nd house denotes movable assets, 4th fixed assets, 9th general
prosperity, fate and the 11th recurring income.
At times, people know only the date of birth and the preparation of
an accurate horoscope becomes difficult, if not impossible. They can be
told to wear the birthstone pertinent to the date of birth. Thus, those
born on the 1st, 10th ,19th or the 28th of any month can wear ruby or
red coral to begin with. By trial and error and after consultations the
correct gemstone can be worn. Some people are found wearing a “nava
ratna” i.e., a ring with all the nine main stones embedded on the ring.
While this may do wonders for some, it is not recommended as a general
solution to appease all the planets at a time! The factors to be
considered when wearing a birthstone are :
1. The correct gem
2. Weight of the gem
3. Metal of the ring
4. Day and time of first wearing
5. Pre-treatment of the stone before wearing.
Pre-treatment refers to the purification or the sanctification
process of the embedded ring. The big question remains which school of
opinion to follow – sympathy or antipathy? Whether one should appease
the afflicted planet or counter-act it?

Indian Astrology
|
|
Indian astrology is the oldest wisdom found
even in Atharva Veda 3000 B.C. back. Indian astrology is based on the
relative positions of stars or planets at the birth time. Mainly the
nine planets are supposed to influence the life of a person. These are
Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupitor, Saturn and two shadow planets Rahu
and Katu. To predict life events of a Person the relative positions of
these planets are determined and several charts and Dashas Are made and
calculated. There were several Rishies who gave several systems to
calculate & prepare these charts and Dashas. Prominent names among
them are Parasher Rishi and Varahamihir and many others. It is quite
difficult, even to study a system thoroughly.
Predictions can be made only after preparing kundli or Horoscope. Kundli science has three parts.
Ganit (Calculations)
Phalit (Predictions)
Rrmedies
Ganit comprises of various calculations. Among them preparing
charts calculating Dashas and many other calculations. Charts are Lagun
kundli, Chander kundli, Navmans kundli Shodesh Verga kundli and Ashtak
Verga kundli and other charts.
There are almost 40 Dashas told by Parasher Rishi. Main of them are Vimsottary Dasha and Yogni Dasha.
Phalit is the art of prediction. This is a divine knowledge,
only a few can lern and practice it. It is based on accurate
calculations of Charts and Dashas. Calculations can only be accurate if
time of birth known is precise. Phalit is used to know various aspects
of a persons life such as education, carrier, love & marriage, to
find a suitable life partner (Match Making), to know an auspicious time
to start a ceremony (Muhurat) and various other aspects.
Remedies Indian astrology provides various remedies to
counter a problem or enhance a particular aspect of life such as
health, wealth, carrier, peace in married life etc. remedies are
wearing gems and metals, mantra therapy, yantra therapy, rudraksha
therapy, upvaas (fasting), Dan (donation), vaster dharan (wearing a
certain color) etc.

How Astrology Works For You?
|
|
Whether you believe in astrology or not, if
there is any astrology column in the news paper/magazine you purchase,
you will not skip it. Whatever may be your comments on the merits of
the predictions- if it is favorable you are not going to curse the
astrologer. If it is unfavorable, you just shrug your shoulders and say
one prediction for millions! Does it make any sense?
Your horoscope, in short, pertains to the planetary positions at the
time of your birth. You came into this world, without any options;
nobody consulted you about your time of arrival. That which is not
controlled by you, must be due to divine grace. How that divine grace
will shape the years to come- your destiny? This, in short is the scope
of astrology.
The building blocks of life are: Fire, Earth, Air and Water.
Horoscope is an astrological chart. There is one chart for one person.
The chart indicates the position of Sun, Moon and the planets at the
time of your birth. No two horoscopes could be alike just as no leaves
of a tree are alike. This is the wonder that is Nature.
One can understand why the common man is most concerned about the
scope of his horoscope. He is always interested to know due to his
never-ending economic difficulties, whether he is getting any support
from the planets; whether the planets are permanently at war with him.
But most surprisingly, the one who is born with a silver spoon in his
mouth seeks the advice of celebrity astrologers quite often.
Some have permanent astrologer consultants on their unofficial role,
to guide them mostly here and to some extent hereafter. There are many
who plan everything, only with astrological guidance and
considerations. Their influence on their clients or devotees is
absolute. Walter Mercado is one such astrologer. Who's who of Latin
America and USA, consult him on all important matters, and function
according to his directions!
What is so special about Walter Mercado? He has the theory knowledge
about astrology, he is a master psychologist. Positivism and
spirituality are his characteristics. When a person is spiritually
evolved, many beyond the mind level powers are conferred on him
automatically. What he says turns out to be truth. To us, they look
like individuals practicing miracles, but miracles just happen around
him. They have 'conquered' Nature and all powers of the Nature are
subservient to them.
Walter Mercado’s psychic gift was the gift of birth. He was born in
the year 1933. In the year 1960, he came to India to do a specialized
study in astrology and the art of elaborating horoscopes. He was
enlightened by a spiritual master and about that meeting Walter Mercado
writes, “an asexual being of light told me that it was my mission to
use my powers to help guide others through this very difficult time in
which we live.”
His TV shows on daily predictions, continue to charm millions of Americans!

How to Know My Past Lives
|
Several religions of the East, including Hinduism and
Buddhism, have enlisted a system of cause and effect based on the
theory of the transmigration of the soul. The concept of reincarnation
is only now being accepted in the West and being incorporated in the
mainstream Christian thought and life with pioneering work in clinical
hypnosis by psychiatrists of international repute. There are mainly
four ways to answer "how to know my past lives".
Past-life
regression therapy: Psychiatrists are increasingly using clinical
hypnosis to regress patients beyond birth. Therapists say all memories
are embedded in an individual's subconscious. These memories relate not
just to one's adult life but also to childhood, those acquired in the
womb and those from a past life! A skilled therapist can make you
recall incidents, people and even languages learnt in a life lived a
few decades ago or a million years ago.
Brighu Sanhita: Based on
ancient Indian system of astrology, it is said there are only four
specialists in India who have access to a certain kind of palm leaf
records of every person who has ever been born. These record-keepers
claim that Maharishi Bhrigu had compiled these records during the Vedic
period in Hindu history. The records were updated by students
thereafter. The database can give details of an individual's past
lives, present life and even all future lives, according to the
experts. Finding a genuine Brighu Sanhita 'keeper' in India can be
quite a task. But if you do and manage to meet him, it is said, the
'keeper' of the 'Brighu Sanhita' will be able to greet you by your name
and show you that the time you were destined to consult him was already
written in the records.
Psychics and mediums: Trained and genuine
psychics claim they can help you contact spirits from the 'other side'
who can give you details of your past life. Spirits that have been in
any kind of relation with you during a lifetime can reveal who you were
in a previous birth, according to these psychics. However, ensuring
that you are in the hands of a genuine psychic is a difficult task.
Self-hypnosis:
There are several self-hypnosis DVDs and music CDs available in the
market that claim to take you through a session of complete physical
and mental relaxation. Experts claim, all actions ever done and all
words ever spoken are embedded in 'Akashik records' maintained in the
astral world. During extreme relaxation, your subconscious can help you
access this astral library and show you your previous lives.
In
all these experiments to know your previous life, it is imperative that
you do not get duped. So be careful before you embark upon any
adventure to tap into your 'past'!

7 Great Assertiveness Techniques That Can Change Your Life
|
Assertiveness requires confidence. Confidence in who
you are. Confidence that you are up to the task at hand. Confidence
that you are in the right place. Sometimes confidence that you have the
team to support you. Assert is a proactive word. When you assert your
position you take a stand. You move things forward in a preferred
direction. There are many times in life when assertiveness is
necessary. There are times when assertiveness is not appropriate. A
famous book titled The Art Of War by Sun Tzu deals with
strategies on when to fight and when to wait for a better time. Many
people studying assertiveness will find and read this book.
These 7 techniques deal with getting you confident and then getting you assertive.
- I am confident I am confident I am confident This works! I
know it works because it worked for me. Repeat these words over and
over and over and over every day several times a day. Say them aloud
whenever you can. Write them down. Make them calligraphy if you like.
Just say them over and over and over and over. One day you will be
confident. Just by practicing this technique. This requires absolutely
no belief whatsoever.
- Setting Objectives To be confident about something you need
an objective. What do you want to accomplish? Why do you want to
accomplish this? If you can't answer these questions then you will not
want to achieve it. This has nothing to do with confidence.
Pre-planning is everything. If this is done correctly achievement is a
just a bit of tweaking.
- Who Am I to attempt this task? Often we confuse careful
consideration with a lack of confidence, and then we get angry at
ourselves, and come to the conclusion that we have low self esteem. In
fact technique 3 is just a continuation of technique 2. It's about
pre-planning. But it is also about preconceived ideas about who the
person has to be to accomplish tasks. Many memorable people were less
educated, less pretty, less secure than you! Our society encourages
self improvement but not accomplishment and bravery. This is usually
taken as arrogance. Remove the word arrogance from your dictionary
right now. Remember the 70s song Ego is not a Dirty Word (by Australian
Band Skyhooks 1975).
- With confidence comes Responsibility Every parent has looked
at their growing children, wishing them to have the confidence in
themselves to stand up and make their place in the world. When hormones
jump around that much, as parents you usually don't get a look-in to
their world to be able to do all the good you wish for them. You see
the fear in them. But you also see the greatness and the budding
potential in them. Sometimes they, and you maybe, grow up having never
seen your greatness. Fear is there as a pause to check before leaping.
That's all it is. When the babies of eagles are ready to fly but
fearful of doing so, the parents push them out. Because they know they
are ready even if they don't. Sometimes we have to take responsibility
for jumping ourselves. Have we been taught about what we are embarking
on? Do we know enough to ensure our safety? If not then find out a bit
more first. But at some point, take the jump and own your own life.
No-one can know everything because we are all learning forever.
- Assertiveness is easy when you are having fun and feeling accepted
Remember the games you used to play as a child? Remember those games
that were made up games? Who made them up? Who benefited from them
being made up? Who was assertive? And who was rewarded for that
assertiveness? I bet you can't even remember who made them up. You were
all having fun. Children make up games together and play them. They
pass the time with a great deal of laughter. So often in life our inner
child has the goods to lead us into the most grown up accomplishments!
Respect your inner child.
- Accepting Criticism Sometimes we aren't afraid of being
assertive, we are afraid of accepting criticism. Putting yourself out
there connotes enormous, giant, instant fame that is the biggest,
scariest monster to contend with. Where is out there anyway? If I open
my mouth now I will become infamous! My word will travel the globe and
I will be subject to the kinds of criticism and negativity that I won't
be able to deal with. Wow! You must be a powerful person to believe
that your actions today will start such an enormous chain event to
affect the whole world! Others work their whole lives, being assertive
every step of the way before anyone listens. Often they have to find
someone who is already famous to help them get their message across and
they remain invisible! Check your fear of criticism. This is a very
human reaction. It probably won't go away, but once you realize it for
what it is you will know that it is more of a physical reaction that is
no longer used for the purpose it was intended centuries ago.
- Assertiveness is not Aggression What is your objective? Are
you being assertive and confident? Are you winning? Who loses then? If
you threaten another then you are being aggressive. If someone you are
trying to convince perceives they will lose something if they agree
with you then this is aggression. You need to re-frame this and put
yourself into their shoes. And don't expect them to think like you. A
knowledge of Astrology, NLP, or Negotiation are all helpful bodies of
knowledge that will allow you to understand others. We aren't all made
the same and we don't all want the same things. The world would be very
simple, but probably very boring too if we did. Human Beings just
aren't made that way. So stop blaming yourself and the world. Relax and
enjoy steering the boat when you have something to assert and taking a
seat when you don't. This technique will allow others to assert to you
and you just might benefit from this too!

An Explanation of Sun Signs
|
Sun signs are more commonly known as the zodiac in
Western culture. They are known as sun signs in astrology because they
refer to the location of the sun in relation to the zodiac as the Earth
travels around it. The horoscope is based on the general
characteristics associated with each sun sign.
Aries: The first
sun sign encompasses the period of time from March 21 - April 19. Any
person born during this time is considered to be an Aries. Aries is the
first sign and as such Aries people are often selfish but they are also
known for their courage. Some famous Aries are Joan Crawford, Elton
John, Eddie Murphy, and Harry Houdini.
Taurus: The second sign
starts April 20th and ends May 20th. A Taurus person is considered to
be a collector of possessions and they are often considered dependable.
They also tend to give to others by teaching, healing, or writing. Some
famous Taurus are Sugar Ray Leonard, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, and
Michelle Pfeiffer.
Gemini: The third sun sign encompasses the
period of time from May 21 - June 20. A Gemini is considered to be a
thoughtful and responsive person. They frequently try to force others
to their point of view on issues. A few famous Gemini are: Clint
Eastwood, John F Kennedy, Donald Trump, and Bob Dylan.

Leo: The fifth
sign encompasses the period of time from July 23 - August 22. A Leo is
typically an exuberant person. They tend to dominate those around them
as they take pleasure in all that life offers them. A few famous Leo
are Dustin Hoffman, Mick Jagger, Madonna, and President Obama.
Virgo:
The sixth sun sign starts Aug 23rd and ends Sept 22nd. Virgos are
considered to be very conscientious people. They are hard workers and
continuously research self-improvement topics. Some famous Virgos are
Jesse James, Bob Newhart, Racquel Welch, and Agatha Christie.
Libra:
The seventh sun sign is from Sept 23 - Oct 22. A Libra is a charming
person who is happiest when they are with their partner. If a Libra has
to be alone, they tend to lose their positive outlook on life. Some
famous Libras are Michael Douglas, Julio Iglesias, Barbara Walters, and
Sigourney Weaver.
Scorpio: The eighth sign encompasses the period
of time from Oct 23 - Nov 21. Scorpios are considered to be idealists.
They believe that they have a purpose in life and a destiny to fulfill.
Some famous Scorpios are: Billy Graham, Grace Kelly, Leonardo DiCaprio,
and Johnny Carson.

and ends Dec 21st. Sagittarius people tend to be very optimistic. They
are at their best when they are traveling and learning new concepts.
Some famous Sagittarius are Kirk Douglas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Brad Pitt,
and Ozzy Osbourne.
Capricorn: The tenth sun sign is Dec 22 - Jan
19. A Capricorn is generally a steady person and they tend to gravitate
towards careers that gain them approval from everyone around them. Some

concerned with the large issues of the world than their personal
relationships. A few famous Aquarius are Christian Dior, Burt Reynolds,

Earp.
Sun signs help to determine personal horoscopes because it is
considered that they rule the general traits of people born under them.
The sun signs also have many other traits associated with them that
will be covered in more detail in a later article. Also it is important
to remember that sun signs are actually named after the zodiac based on
the sun position within the zodiac during different times of the year.
