How Astrology Works For You?
Whether you believe in astrology or not, if there is any astrology column in the news paper/magazine you purchase, you will not skip it. Whatever may be your comments on the merits of the predictions- if it is favorable you are not going to curse the astrologer. If it is unfavorable, you just shrug your shoulders and say one prediction for millions! Does it make any sense?

Your horoscope, in short, pertains to the planetary positions at the time of your birth. You came into this world, without any options; nobody consulted you about your time of arrival. That which is not controlled by you, must be due to divine grace. How that divine grace will shape the years to come- your destiny? This, in short is the scope of astrology.

The building blocks of life are: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Horoscope is an astrological chart. There is one chart for one person. The chart indicates the position of Sun, Moon and the planets at the time of your birth. No two horoscopes could be alike just as no leaves of a tree are alike. This is the wonder that is Nature.

One can understand why the common man is most concerned about the scope of his horoscope. He is always interested to know due to his never-ending economic difficulties, whether he is getting any support from the planets; whether the planets are permanently at war with him. But most surprisingly, the one who is born with a silver spoon in his mouth seeks the advice of celebrity astrologers quite often.

Some have permanent astrologer consultants on their unofficial role, to guide them mostly here and to some extent hereafter. There are many who plan everything, only with astrological guidance and considerations. Their influence on their clients or devotees is absolute. Walter Mercado is one such astrologer. Who's who of Latin America and USA, consult him on all important matters, and function according to his directions!

What is so special about Walter Mercado? He has the theory knowledge about astrology, he is a master psychologist. Positivism and spirituality are his characteristics. When a person is spiritually evolved, many beyond the mind level powers are conferred on him automatically. What he says turns out to be truth. To us, they look like individuals practicing miracles, but miracles just happen around him. They have 'conquered' Nature and all powers of the Nature are subservient to them.

Walter Mercado's psychic gift was the gift of birth. He was born in the year 1933. In the year 1960, he came to India to do a specialized study in astrology and the art of elaborating horoscopes. He was enlightened by a spiritual master and about that meeting Walter Mercado writes, "an asexual being of light told me that it was my mission to use my powers to help guide others through this very difficult time in which we live."

His TV shows on daily predictions, continue to charm millions of Americans!

Karmic Astrology Part 2
Continued from Part 1

Rahu (North Node) : The main significances ruled by Rahu include the In-Laws, particularly Father in Law and Brother in Law, Birds and particularly Crows, people working as Plumbers, Toilet Cleaners, Sweepers, Garbage collectors and Mentally imbalanced people. Smuggling activities particularly dealing in drugs, Gambling and anything that can fetch you money by making a speculation like lotteries, trading in stock markets, putting bets on horses in a horse race are all the significations ruled by Rahu. Bad Karmas done in the previous lives towards the persons or significances ruled by Rahu are the reasons for a negative placement of Rahu in the present life. And the good Karmas done towards the significances ruled by Rahu are the cause of a positive placement of Rahu in present life which may bless a person with rich to very rich In-Laws who are very supportive, sudden gains of money from lotteries or stock market speculations. The strength and field of impact in the present life indicates the strength and filed of significance ruled by Rahu, touched in previous lives.

Ketu (South Node) : The main significances ruled by Ketu are sons, disciples, orphans and dogs. Ketu is also a signifier of mystic and occult science and extreme successes or extreme failures in profession. Bad Karmas done by a person in his previous life towards the significances ruled by Ketu are the reasons for a negative placement of Ketu in the present life. And the good Karmas done by a person towards the significations ruled by Ketu are the reasons for a positive placement of Ketu in the present life. The strength and filed of impact in the present life is an indicator of the strength and fields signified by Ketu that were touched in the previous lives. A strong positive placement or Ketu can bless a native with extreme success with all around fame while a strong negative placement can be a cause for extreme failures and bad reputations all around including court cases and litigations which keep on bothering the person from time to time. A negative placement is also capable of causing metal agonies, diseases which are very difficult to diagnose and lack of decision making.

The negative or positive placements of the above mentioned planets are seen in a horoscope and accordingly their effects and fields of impact are calculated from a horoscope. The timing of these impacts whether good or bad is also indicated in the horoscope which is used to predict the timing of good or bad events which are going to happen in a person's life. And the astrological remedies prescribed after analyzing a horoscope for negative planets are the directions given to the person that help him pacify the bad impact of negative planets. For example, a person with a strong negative placement of Saturn is advised to be kind to his servants and labour class people in general, avoid excessive drinking which may cause trouble to the others and the likewise things. Actually these are the things that the person should have been doing in his previous lives but he did not and that is why they are due to be done in his horoscope and the same status will continue in the coming lives also, till the person does them and clears the debts payable to Saturn. And an astrologer just guides the person towards the right direction where the affected person can pay his past life debts belonging to the significances ruled by a particular planet so that the negative effects of the planet may be reduced gradually.

Karmic Astrology Part 1

Most of the people who go to astrologers for horoscope readings are told that there are some negative planets in their horoscope which are making negative yogas and there are some positive planets in their horoscope which are making positive yogas in their horoscope. And as I have already mentioned in my previous articles, the nature and strength of the planets for a person is decided as soon as he takes birth. For example if Saturn and Jupiter are working negatively in a person's horoscope, their negativity and strength is registered at the birth of that person and accordingly the strength of bad yogas formed by them in his horoscope is registered. In the same way if Mercury and Venus are working positively in a person's horoscope, their nature and strength is registered at the time of the birth of that person and accordingly the strength of good yogas formed by them in his horoscope is registered. But a question arises here. Why is the nature and strength of planets decided for every person at the time of his birth. Does this mean that it has something to do with his past life or past lives of that person. Yes it certainly has to do with his past lives and particularly with his recent past life. And the nature of the planets is not decided at the time of the birth of a person. It is decided a long time before a person takes birth. It is decided when a person dies in his previous life. Whatever a person does throughout his life, good Karmas and bad Karmas, all the impressions are marked on his soul and as this person dies, it is very much clear from these impressions as to what he is going to be in the next life. But reading the impressions marked on the soul of a dying person is the field of a spiritually advanced human and not an astrologer. And this person comes back on earth or takes a new birth, only when the planetary combinations are suitable to reward and punish him for the good and the bad Karmas he had done in his past lives. And as this person takes birth those combinations are recorded in his horoscope and that is where an astrologer comes into the picture. By reading the negative planets and their strengths and by reading the positive planets and their strengths in the horoscope, an astrologer can tell the future events of a person's life. But what is it that actually makes a particular planet go negative or positive for a particular person. What are the Karmas done by a person in his previous life or lives which make a particular planet go negative for him and a particular planet go positive for him. Let's try to understand this on the basis of good and bad Karmas done by a person in his past lives. And let's consider all the planets one by one.

The Sun: The Sun signifies the father, the king, the government, the head of states, administrators and the ruling authorities. The sun is also a signifier of the Self and responsible for the birth of a male child among many other things. The bad Karmas done towards the significations ruled by the Sun in previous life or lives will make the Sun work negatively for a person and its strength will depend on the extent of the bad Karmas done by the person. And its field of impact would depend on the field where the person committed those bad Karmas in his previous life. For example, a person who has kept on troubling his father in his previous life, is likely to suffer due to his father or he may not have his father with him for the most of his present life or his son may give him the same treatment that he gave to his father in his previous life. And due to this reason only we see some cases in which the son is suffering due to his father which may include spending excessive amount of money on his father's illness, not having the love of his father right from the start of his birth or a father is suffering due to his son in one way or the other. It all depends upon what this person had done in his previous lives. Whatever he had seeded in his previous lives, he is supposed to reap in the present and coming lives. In the same way the person who was not fair to the government and cheated it with taxes and other kinds of frauds in his previous lives, is likely to be unlucky with the house of government in this life and may get punished by government in one way or the other. And similarly the other negative impacts of the Sun in a person's life can be related to the bad Karmas done by him in the respective fields. And in the same way the positivity and strength of the Sun for a person is related to the good Karmas done by him which influenced the fields signified by the Sun.

The Moon : The Moon is a signifier of the Mother in particular and it also signifies the mind and the emotions. The large bodies of water like rivers and seas, the psychics and the healers are also ruled by the Moon among other things. The good or bad Karmas done towards the Mother or the mother like ladies in the previous lives decide the nature and strength of the Moon for the present life of a person. In the same way the good or bad Karmas done towards large water bodies would decide the nature and strength of the moon for a native. And the fields of impacts in this life are the indicator of the person's field of doing good or bad Karmas in previous lives.

Jupiter : The main significations ruled by Jupiter are Saints and holy religious places, spiritual books, teachers, Spiritual Gurus and Priests among other things. The good or bad Karmas done to the persons, places or things ruled by Jupiter in previous lives would decide the nature and strength of Jupiter for the coming lives. And the field of impact in the present life can indicate the fields signified by Jupiter which were affected positively or negatively by a person in his previous lives.

Venus : Though there are many significations ruled by Venus, but its nature is mainly decided by the good or bad deeds done towards the lover, partner or spouse and women in general. The people who kept on troubling and cheating their partners in previous lives and the persons who did not show any respect to women in general, are very likely to have a negative placement of Venus in their horoscope causing them to suffer from the same effects, that is, they are being cheated or troubled by their lovers or spouses in their present lives or they may not have any love life at all. And on the other hand the people who made every effort to make their lovers or spouses happy and respected the women in general in their previous lives are very likely to have a strong positive placement of Venus in their horoscope which blesses them with the company of beautiful, charming and caring partners and a good reputation among the women.

Mars : Mars is a signifier of brothers, friends, strength and weapons among other things. The people who used their force and strength to get something by wrong means, the people who used their strength to suppress other people, the people who killed or hurt people by using weapons, the people who kept on troubling their brothers and friends throughout their previous lives are very likely to have a strong negative placement of Mars in their horoscope in their present life and are likely to suffer the similar consequences. And on the other hand, the good deeds done by a person in his previous lives towards the people, places or things ruled by Mars would result in the positive placement of Mars in the horoscope of that person in his present life and the positive results would be seen in the fields which were closely and positively touched by that person in his previous lives. For example, if a person was very good to his friends in his previous lives and did whatever he could to help them, he is very likely to see a rise in his present life which would come with the help and support of his friends. Such friends are very devoted ones and even face the death that comes towards this person as they are indebted to this person for so many lives.

Mercury : Mercury in general is a signifier of daughter, sister, unborn child, children up to the age of 12 and girls in particular, trade and business, wisdom, speech and memory among other things. Bad Karmas done by a person in his previous lives towards his daughter, sister or cheating in business, deceiving people using the skill of speech are the general causes for a negative placement of Mercury in the present life of the person. The strength of negativity and its field of impact would indicate towards the fields of previous lives where bad Karmas were done. In the same way, good Karmas done by a person towards the significances ruled by Mercury in his previous lives would be a reason for a positive placement of Mercury in the present life where the strength and field of impact indicate the fields where good Karmas were done in the previous lives.

Saturn : The main significations ruled by Saturn include labour class people, routine workers, servants, blind people, baggers, snakes and liquor among other things. Bad Karmas done by a person in his previous lives towards any of the above mentioned people or indulging in excessive drinking which causes trouble for others is a reason for the negative placement of Saturn in the present life. While on the other hand good Karmas done to the people or significances ruled by Saturn in previous lives are the reasons for a positive placement of Saturn in the present life. The strength and fields of impact in the present life indicate the field and strength of Karmas done in the previous lives.

Astrology And Birthstones

Gems have been used from times immemorial for luck and as good omens.Kings and queens are reported to be craving for the possession and pursuit of beautiful gems and stones. Our fore-fathers have used them to ward off evil spirits, to bring luck and favor as well as to prolong their longevity. Some astrologers prescribe wearing of appropriate gemstones or birthstones as they are commonly called as remedial measures for mitigating the malefic effects of some planets. This is akin to a doctor prescribing medicines to a patient.

The venerated Indian astrologer Varahamihira, in his magnum opus "Brihat amhita" (chapters 80 to 83 ), refers to gems and their examination. Gems are said to be born of the bones of the demon Bala while some opine they were born of sage Dadheechi and have characteristic qualities of the earth. The list given by him includes diamond, sapphire, emerald, agate, ruby, bloodstone, beryl, amethyst, vimalaka, quartz, pearl, sughandika, opal, conch, azure, topaz, brahma gem, jyoteerasa, sasyaka, coral, moonstone etc. Diamonds that show scratches like crow-feet (kaakapadam), bees or hair , are mixed with colored minerals substances or gravel, have double facets, are burnt, discolored, lusterless or perforated, are inauspicious. So are those that are covered with bubbles, split at the points, flattened, or oblong. Diamonds that are triangular, trigonal and like the coriander seed or the buttocks are productive of good results to ladies desiring male offspring. Best pearls are those that are got from pearl-oysters.

Everyone who went to school is aware of the word SPECTRUM. When white light passes through a prism, the emergent beam is composed of seven (7) different colors, commonly known as the acronym VIBGYOR i.e., Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet in the reverse order. The same effect is observed in a rainbow. It is believed that our body contains these seven colors in different proportions. If the colors are balanced, the owner is lucky - healthy and wealthy. Any deficiency or excess of one or more rays causes mental or physical (or a combination) problems. The principal gems represent or signify planets and luminaries (sun and moon). The astrologer examines the horoscope and determines which planet (or planets) is antagonistic to the native and prescribes the birthstone to be worn with details of what to wear, when to wear and how to wear.

Ruby, Pearl, Coral, Emerald, Topaz, Sapphire, Diamond, Agate, and Cat's eye respectively refer to Sun,Moon,Mars,Mercury, Jupiter,Saturn,Venus,Caput (Rahu),and Cauda (Ketu). AGATE is said to be good for the heart, Amethyst cures sterility, Beryl enhances love and affection, Coral protects from epidemics, metorrhagia etc., Diamond cures plague, insomnia, charms, ensures safe delivery , Emerald is said to be good for the brain, increases memory power, ensures chastity, cures dropsy, epilepsy, hysteria, dysentery , Pearl is recommended for chastity, Ruby protects one from poison, plague, banishes melancholy, Sapphire assures good fortune, peace, comfort while Topaz denotes sympathy, re-possession of lost things.

Proper selection of a gemstone is done after a minute consideration of :

• Sun sign

• Ruling ascendant

• Lord of the ruling ascendant

• Debilitated or afflicted planets

The fundamental principle followed is the determination of the ray or rays causing abnormalities. The celestial bodies are known to emit different colors in the spectrographic analyses. One of the important uses to which this knowledge can be applied is medical science. The curative powers of gemstones have been studied by some who have opined that a proper and restrictive use of some gems can bring upon significant changes in the health of patients and even cure them altogether. Thus, the twelve houses of the native's horoscope are said to signify different parts of the body. The first house denotes the head and the brain while the fifth house points towards the stomach and the intestines. Similarly, the zodiacal signs refer to the various human organs. The fingers are significators of various ailments and body parts. The birth star and the Drik ( 6th, 8th and 12th ) houses are also to be taken into account while recommending a birthstone for healthy living. The birth star is the constellation in which the moon resides at the moment of one's birth. There are 27 (twenty-seven) constellations in Indian astrology each sub-divided into four parts or "padas". At times, Abhijit is also considered as a constellation occurring in Capricorn. In electional astrology, Abhijit muhurta is said to alleviate any affliction and hence if no appropriate or auspicious moment is possible immediately, recourse is taken to this.

Not only do birthstones help in health problems, they are worn to increase one's wealth as well. Thus, Emerald denoting Mercury is beneficial for one dealing with liquid cash, shares and stocks, Jupiter for those dealing with properties, buildings and jewellery etc. The moon in the male horoscope and the sun in the female horoscope are important for prognosticating wealth matters. Jupiter is considered for success and Venus for pleasures in one's life. Jupiter's placement in eastern side i.e., aries to virgo assures early success in life. The 2nd house denotes movable assets, 4th fixed assets, 9th general prosperity, fate and the 11th recurring income.

At times, people know only the date of birth and the preparation of an accurate horoscope becomes difficult, if not impossible. They can be told to wear the birthstone pertinent to the date of birth. Thus, those born on the 1st, 10th ,19th or the 28th of any month can wear ruby or red coral to begin with. By trial and error and after consultations the correct gemstone can be worn. Some people are found wearing a "nava ratna" i.e., a ring with all the nine main stones embedded on the ring. While this may do wonders for some, it is not recommended as a general solution to appease all the planets at a time! The factors to be considered when wearing a birthstone are :

1. The correct gem

2. Weight of the gem

3. Metal of the ring

4. Day and time of first wearing

5. Pre-treatment of the stone before wearing.

Pre-treatment refers to the purification or the sanctification process of the embedded ring. The big question remains which school of opinion to follow - sympathy or antipathy? Whether one should appease the afflicted planet or counter-act it?

What Is Tarot Astrology?

Tarot astrology is the system through which a reading of the cards in a tarot deck help you through troubled times by offering a reflection on your past, present and future. Tarot is closely associated with astrology as each card relates to a planet, element, or astrological sign.

Tarot cards are used for divination, often known as fortune telling. But, many psychologists have used them as well, feeling that the cards often make patients delve in to how they feel about themselves. This is done through the subconscious. For example, let's say you know work is not going well, but you do not allow yourself to think about it. Getting a tarot card reading that shows you need to change occupations is not really telling your future so much as it is making you face what is really going on in your life.

A tarot card deck consists of 78 cards that fall into two distinctive parts. The first part is called the Major Arcana. This part of the deck has 22 cards, 21 suitless cards referred to as trumps and one card called The Fool. It is believed that these cards represent different stages of life that we go through. Many are recognizable such as the Magician (associated with the planet Mercury), the Lovers (associated with the astrological sign Gemini), and the Death card (associated with Scorpio).

The other 56 cards are in the Minor Arcana. Arcana is taken from the Latin word "akanum," meaning secret. The Minor Arcana is divided into four suits, just like regular playing cards. The four suits are the Cups, the Wands, the Swords, and the Pentacles. Each of these cards represents a certain element of the Earth and is associated with certain astrological signs. The Cups represent water and are associated most closely with Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. The Cups stand for emotions, spirituality, and the unconsciousness. The Wands represent fire and are associated with Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. The Wands stand for action, creativeness, and personal growth. The Swords represent air and are associated with Libra, Gemini, and Aquarius. The Swords stand for the mind, intelligence, and knowledge. The final suit, the Pentacles, represents earth itself and is associated with Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. The Pentacles stand for the physique, bodily experiences, and practicality. In addition to the four suits, there are also Court cards including the King, Queen, Prince, and Princess for each suit.

The Minor Arcana cards provide more details to the Major Arcana cards. The Major Arcana gives an individual direction and information about their personal life and emotional and mental state. The Minor Arcana cards offer additional guidance in areas such as relationships, activities, failures, and successes. The Major Arcana cards are seen as more spiritual while the Minor Arcana cards are seen as material.

Over the years, the interpretation of the cards has evolved. Modern decks of tarot cards are much more expressive that then earlier version, due in part to the pictures being more closely associated with their meaning. Tarot readers prize their cards and often will not let others touch them as they are viewed as sacred tools of their trade. Many card sets are often viewed as works of art because of the detailed pictures on each one.

Finding a psychic for a tarot reading is easy. If you are looking to visit a psychic in person, check in your local Yellow Pages under Psychic. If you live in a remote area or are leery of visiting a psychic in person, you can also get tarot card readings online. If you use your favorite Internet search engine to search on "free tarot reading," you will find many sites appear. If you are leery that free readings might not be as accurate as paid reading, you can also find online psychics who will charge to do a reading. Some psychics will base their charges on how many questions you wish to ask about the reading while some will just charge a flat fee for so many minutes.

Whether you get a tarot card reading online or in person, there are several things you should keep in mind. The tarot card reading should not scare you, but rather give you a better understanding of yourself. They will help you with not only what your future holds, but also what is presently going on in your life. You should leave the reading with a positive attitude and feeling enlightened.

How to Get Along - Aries and Cancer
Astro Magnetism First then Astro Compatibility

The Ram and The Moonchild

This series on AstroCompatibility will cover all of the potential matchups in the Zodiac. We will continue this series thinking about and commenting on Aries and Cancer.

Aries - Cancer

Cancer's romantic aspect is based in domesticity and Aries is not necessarily thinking about the home when it is checking out availabilities.. These signs are both "Cardinal", which means they share an Action Oriented approach to what they do. However, Aries is Fire and Cancer is Water. So Cancer's actions, and they are definitely action-based people, are thoughtful and conscious and based in the slow approach rooted in hearth and home. Aries' Fire and Aries' Cardinality means Aries is action times TWO.

The Aries in pursuit of the Cancer sets up a "not so fast, guy" picture. It's not that a Cancer would be shy, but there is too much inner steel to be thought of as "easy". But the Cancer and the Aries can create a kindled fire. The Cancer not shy, necessarily, but a little more consciously hesitant, might find the more firey and outgoing Aries very appealing. Aries can start the conversation and Cancer can finish with a well-considered Cancerian clever rejoinder. This is a good potential for compatibility.

Positive Postulate:

Since Aries and Cancer share "cardinality", there is a basic match up here. This is especially important with cardinal signs because they "charge first and ask questions later". The two of them could create a dynamic family together. Positively speaking, these signs could be a public and dynamic pair. Regardless of how the genders work, it seems a pairing that could be serious. Cancer would consider slowly, Aries would act when they agreed, and then Cancer could support. Aries intelligence and brightness would be appreciated by Cancer.

Romance Recommendation:

Aries and Cancer would have a very high romance factor, as long as Cancer would not slip into a depressive mood state and Aries would not lose its sharp temper. Offending and being offended could be a romance dampener.

Conflict Quotient:

Aries and Cancers have tempers! Aries starts it and Cancer finishes it. Whoa. Watch out. They will definitely have many discussions - long discussions. You see Cancer, regardless of gender will not be intimidated and Aries moves forward with its issues on its lips. This is not a death sentence. It just means they will have to reconcile and work things out. The benefit here is that there will not be too many unspoken, unexpressed problems.

Peace Parlay:

Life in the end is repetitive and mundane, and so is Romance itself. This factor asks the question: "Can we be bored together over the long term?" Cancer and Aries might not be able to stand boredom, but as they get older, they might need it. Cancer "blues" should be watched for here. Aries may over estimate its rightness and become wearing.

Keep Up The Interest Graph:

Cancer and Aries are a good "keep up the interest" signs, but Aries should stop looking over the fence and flirting at picnics. Cancer is not likely to ruin this relationship, unless they become profoundly hurt or disappointed. Aries may forget how fortunate it is, until something shakes them up.

Seven Year Itchiness:

There are some signs that by their nature are more stable in their love interests and family concerns, as time goes on. Others are not. There are Cardinal signs on both sides here. That means action could be taken by either during the 7 year itch time. Cancer is more likely to think about it and imagine it, much more than Aries. Aries could stumblie into it, not knowing that its subconscious might be overly engaged in the prospect of infidelity.

RATING:

ASTROCOMPATIBILITY POSSIBILITY RATING: 80% Positive Long Term - 50% Short Term. This has a better chance the older the relationship gets. Cancer should watch the weight. Aries should care less about losing its youth. The newer this relationship is, the more possibility that it might not work. But once they get going, these two cardinals could keep going on sheer momentum. Check out Christofer's Website: http://www.astrologygetalong.com

Is Your Future in the Stars?
Astrology has been practiced for thousands and thousands of years with many people strongly believing in the powers of the stars, planets, or other celestial bodies and their influence on those of us here on Earth. And it's certainly no secret that the 12 signs of the Zodiac can be eerily accurate when it comes to describing a person's habits, actions, traits, and beliefs.

Astrology can be defined as the study of the planets and their energy patterns that are created based on their position in space.

The earliest of cultures and societies marveled at the heavens and the seemingly endless amount of stars twinkling back at them while pondering what their actual purpose was. It was soon discovered that the change in seasons could be tied into the ever changing sky along with the planet's journey around the sun. This, coupled with the knowledge that we, along with everything else on earth, are comprised of energy, gave ancient man a longstanding fascination with astrology and how it influences our lives.

Each sign of the Zodiac is represented by a cosmic body and most horoscopes are based on the more familiar Sun sign, which is usually the basic starting point when it comes to learning about astrology and how it may help to predict the future, rather than the more complex Moon and Rising signs.

In terms of using astrology to gauge how well you would get along with a potential mate, look to the Sun signs first, which represent our basic nature. Then, study the Moon and Rising signs once you're familiar with the former while realising how Sun signs are really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the realm of astrology.

To learn great insights about your personality and to discover hidden talents you may have never known of, obtain a birth or natal chart, which represents the position of the stars and planets at your exact moment of birth. Your Rising sign, also called Ascendant, will be on your birth chart as well and it represents the sign of the Zodiac that was ascending over the Eastern horizon the precise moment you were born.

The astrological Rising sign has the potential to influence your life as much as the Sun or Moon signs. The Sun sign is viewed as the representation of your innermost personality and future potential and the Moon sign rules your heart or emotions, while the Rising sign represents your physical self and how you present yourself to the world around you.

The current Sun signs are as follows:

- Aries: March 21 to April 19
- Taurus: April 20 to May 20
- Gemini: May 21 to June 21
- Cancer: June 22 to July 22
- Leo: July 23 to August 22
- Virgo: August 23 to September 22
- Libra: September 23 to October 22
- Scorpio: October 23 to November 21
- Sagittarius: November 22 to December 21
- Capricorn: December 22 to January 19
- Aquarius: January 20 to February 18
- Pisces: February 19 to March 20

Dates do change slightly from year to year, so if your birthday is on or near a cusp, the first or last day, your Zodiac Sun sign may also change and you may possess qualities or traits common to both.

The History Behind Western Astrology
The night has been associated with a lady dressed in black velvet and bejewelled with glowing diamonds we know as stars. The shining stars of the night, together with other celestial bodies, however have been more than trinkets in the sky. The astrologers have for centuries looked to the heavens for some star or planetary activity that might impact people's lives on earth.

So what is the history behind astrology in the western part of the world?
In the ancient times, the practice of astrology is meant only for the royal blood, during this period, the royalty credibly relied on astrologers and placed them in respected positions in their palaces. When the astrologers brought some bad news though, they literally cut the heads of the poor astrologers off. In the meantime, in 2300 BC, western astrology started in ancient Mesopotamia and found its way to olden Greece. Astrology thrived in this land along with the emergence of the well-known Greek philosophers Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.

Meanwhile, one of Aristotle's students, Alexander the Great, went on colonizing different parts of the world and with it distributed the Greek philosophy and way of life. In a span of three hundred years, it was in Egypt that much of Alexander's conquests made its greatest influence. Astrology in particular became the centre of scholarly learning and acceptance by the foremost thinkers of the era. In particular, Ptolemy not only studied the skies but focused on mathematically inclined astronomy, this event marked the beginning of astrology as we know it today - the horoscope and the zodiac signs.

After several hundred years however, western astrologers have gone underground to give way to the powerful beliefs of the Christian Church in the Middle Ages. They practiced astrology with caution as it was declared unorthodox at that time. Fortunately, by the Renaissance period, the revival of the Greek and neo-Platonic thought brought western astrology back to life. Marsilio Ficino was one of the famous alchemist and astrologer of this era. Still, this was cut short during the Age of Enlightenment when a paradigm shift separated the fields of astronomy and astrology apart - considering the former to be a physical science and the latter a mere supernatural art.

The revival of western astrology at the start of the twentieth century was made primarily through the efforts of the awe-inspiring astrologers Sepharial and Alan Leo - the pioneers of the Astrological Lodge of the Theosophical Society in Britain. From then on, western astrology flourished and became a popular pursuit for almost everybody. The astrological beliefs referring to the Sun Sign Astrology, karma, reincarnation and daily horoscopes became part of group discussions and everyday lingo.

In the 1930s, Paul Clancy published the "American Astrology" magazine and opened up the world of astrology to a wider public. It was the highly respected Dane Rudhyar who first wrote the daily horoscopes under the 12 astrological signs. The horoscope then became a daily habit and widely sought in the newspapers, magazines and other publications. Hence, the history of western astrology may have been full of adversities, but the fact that it has survived through the years speak of a supernatural yet down-to-earth spirituality.

Chinese Astrology – Are You In Your Element?

What is a habit? A habit can be defined as something we repeatedly do until it becomes our behavior. It is the interrelationship of knowledge, skill and desire. Whether the habit is positive or negative depends on what it can do for us.

In Chinese Astrology, a person is given a set of natal pillars which comprises the 5 metaphysical elements of the universe. These elements are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Our existences on earth are governed by these elements. By the interaction of these elements in a productive, conquering or exhaustive cycle, our destiny takes root. Our characteristics, attributes, and behaviors are brought about by many of these elemental interplays within our natal chart. One aspect of destiny that we can change is our habit which invariably influences our behavior. This is where an analysis of our natal chart based on the 5 elements can help us decipher which habit will determine our behavior and ultimately our destiny.

In the context of self improvement, one management guru that stands out is Dr. Stephen R. Covey. His well researched and documented study on human behavior resulted in the publication of the highly acclaimed book "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People". In short, the book teaches us how to live a productive and fulfilling life. Using Chinese Astrology, we can analyze how these habits are influenced by the elements in our natal chart.

Habit 1

We always have choices in our lives. What we make of ourselves depend on the choices we made. Whether we live from hand to mouth or live off the fat of the land is ultimately up to us. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that exhausts self and the element that self conquers. If your self element is wood, then the element that exhausts self is fire and the element that self conquers is earth.

Habit 2

We should have goals in our lives. Goals give us direction and take us where we want to go. It is being proactive in controlling our destiny. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with the element that produces self. If your self element is fire, then the element that produces self is wood.

Habit 3

We should have a plan to achieve our goals. A plan will help to take us to our destination. We need to be disciplined and to prioritize which actions come first and which to take in order to get there fastest. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with the element that conquers self and the element that exhausts self. If your self element is earth, then the element that conquers self is wood and the element that exhausts self is metal.

Habit 4

We should seek cooperation that is mutually beneficial. By having such interaction with one another, everybody wins and no one is made to be a loser. In this way, an agreement will last the test of time since everybody is satisfied and will stay committed. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that produces self and the element that conquers self. If your self element is metal, then the element that produces self is earth and the element that conquers self is fire.

Habit 5

We should listen more and speak less in order to really understand people. By seeking to understand others first allows us to see things from their perspective and pave the way for us to be understood in return. This makes us influential. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that produces self and the element that conquers self. If your self element is water, then the element that produces self is metal and the element that conquers self is earth.

Habit 6

We should accept and respect differences in people. By leveraging on the strengths of other people and compensate for their weaknesses, we can forge synergy in a team. Synergy is about using creativity to build strengths in diversity so that collectively, we achieve more than if we go it alone. In Chinese Astrology, this habit has to do with our self element, the element that produces self and the element that exhausts self. If your self element is wood, then the element that produces self is water and the element that exhausts self is fire.

Habit 7

We should strive to maintain a balance in our lives - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. By having balance in these four areas, we feel energized and empowered to live life to the full. It is the culmination in our journey to be a highly effective person.

The Scientific Divination Of Astrology
Astrology is based upon the celestial bodies and their positions at any given time. Astrology is a science, but it is also a divination tool. Astrology involves knowledge about the astrological plain and good mathematic skills. An astrologer can build a chart based upon any specific time and date in history. They then use this chart to explain to a person the answers to questions or details about their life.

Commonly when a person goes to an astrologer they will get a chart done that is called a birth chart. A birth chart is made using the persons exact time, date and location of their birth. The exact locations of the planets, sun and moon are charted based upon this information. The location of the planets, sun and moon then correspond to different meanings based upon their location.

Everyday use of astrology is shown in horoscopes which re loosely based upon the location of planets for a certain day or time period and how they relate to the signs of the Zodiac, which also play an important role in astrology. It is also common for people to refer to the location of planets to explain bad weather or other occurrences that seem more prevalent, for example the phrase ‘Mercury is in retrograde' is used to explain why people seem to be a different mood than usual.

The role of the Zodiac in astrology is rather important. It is not only the location of the planets, sun and moon that is important when interrupting a report, but also what Zodiac sign a planet, the sun or the moon falls in at that time. Each of the twelve signs of the Zodiac carry their own traits, as do each of the planets, the sun and the moon. In astrology the effect of each planet, the sun and the moon changes depending what Zodiac sign it is in.

Astrology can be a difficult art to master. It requires plenty of knowledge and astrologers usually have many books and maps on hand in order to be able to pinpoint locations and such. They learn how to do charts for any time, date and location given. There are almost endless possibilities. An astrologer has to understand the basic layout of the planets, how they move and their location in relation to the earth and the Zodiac. It can take many years for an astrologer to master the skills needed to give an accurate astrological reading.

Astrology is based upon the thought that the way the planets, the sun and the moon are located within the heavens effect people in different locations differently. The natal astrology chart tells what a persons life will be like based upon their birth details. Astrology is a great tool to learn more about yourself. It can also be used by psychic readers to gain more insight into why something may be happening to a person.

When getting an astrology chart or reading it is important for a person to make sure their astrologer knows what they are doing. They should be able to answer any questions the person may have. They should have experience and be able to provide samples of their work and even references. An astrology chart or reading can be very expensive and before spending that amount of money a person needs to be sure they are dealing with a reputable astrologer.

Astrology can be a wonderful way get insight into a persons life. It combines the psychic world with the scientific world. Many people prefer astrology over other forms of divination just because of the complex and scientific nature.

Astrology, Marriage And Compatibility

"Marriages are made in heaven", is a well-known saying. So too can be said,"Divorces happen in hell". The fabric of Indian society weaves itself strongly around the well-established and time-tested institution of marriage built upon a well-thought of procedure and societal sanction. It is as rigorous as any ISO certification. "Once married, married for life", is the slogan or motto of Indian society. It is very strongly believed and rightly so, that marriage between a man and a woman approved by law,is not just a civil and social contract between two people but is also a union of two different families and their harmonious relationship into the future.

The starting point before a boy's family 'sees' a girl of similar status for mutual agreeability to the marriage proposal is the involvement of an astrologer for judging the astrological 'matching' or compatibility of horoscopes. In the so-called 'love marriages', this aspect is of no significance andhence, only a suitable 'muhurta' as per electional astrology is fixed (if required) for the marriage ceremony performance. That the ancient Hindus had devised a method to judge the marriage compatibility of the bride and bridegroom in all aspects - physical, mental, spiritual and biological - speaks immensely of their foresight, insights and skills in social architecture.

As soon as a 'middleperson' brings up a likely 'match', the families refer the horoscopes of the boy and the girl to their astrologers for their astrological examination with regard to compatibility, commonly known as 'matching'. There are three main factors to be considered:

1. The longevity of the boy and the girl

2. The strength of the 7th and the 8th houses.

3. Agreeability of 12 factors or 'Koota Milan'

The seventh house in a horoscope pertains to one's partner. If Venus and Mars are in the 7th, the boy or the girl will have strong biological urges and so, such a person should be married to a similar one for compatibility. Judgement of longevity requires expertise and novices should not even attempt it. Once the minimum requirement of agreeability is achieved, the astrologer gives the go-ahead to the family, otherwise, he suggests skipping the proposal.

In 'Koota Milan', twelve (12) factors of matching are considered. The sixteen 'Kootas' are Dina, Gana, Mahendra, Stree-Deergha, Varna, Vasya, Graha-Maitri, Yoni, Rasi, Rajju, Vedha, and Nadi. Of them, the most important are Yoni, Rajju and Nadi. The maximum 'marks' or units of agreement are 36 (thirty-six) and a minimum of 18 (eighteen) are considered essential apart from the satisfactory matching of Yoni (sex), Rajju (duration of married life) and Nadi (physiological temperament). For the matching process, only the birth stars of the boy and the girl are needed. There are 27 (twenty-seven) 'nakshatras' or constellations in Indian astrology, not counting 'Abhijit'. Each 'nakshatra' is sub-divided into four 'padas' or quarters. The constellation in which the moon happens to reside at a given moment is the ruling star of the moment. The one at the time of birth is the birth star. Some astrologers attach greater importance to 'Graha-Maitri' or friendship between the lords of the 'Janma Rasis' (sign of the moon in the horoscopes) since this determines the psychological dispositions of the couple. Someexceptions are also provided as otherwise marriages would not take place at all!

What happens if the 'Janma Rasis' and/or the 'Janma Nakshatras' of the couple are the same ? The commonly accepted verdict of the ancient Indian astrologers and sages, in case the 'Janma Rasis' are same, is that the boy's birth star should precede the girl's. In case the 'Janma Nakshatras' of the couple happen to be the same, they should belong to different 'Padas' (quarters). It is essential to avoid the match if the common star is one among Bharani, Aslesha, Swati, Jyesta, Moola, Dhanista, Satabhisha or Poorvabhadra. If, however, the common birth star relates to two different 'rasis' (signs), and the 'Pada' of the girl relates to the preceding sign, it is acceptable. In case, the common birth star belongs to two signs equally (Mrigasira, Chitta etc.), the 'Pada' of the boy should relate to the preceding sign. Some more exceptions have been laid down to make allowances for matching if there is a strong demand for the alliance. However, the honest and sincere astrologer should put forth his objections without any bias.

'Kuja Dosham' or 'Mangalik' is one major obstacle to marriages in India. This arises due to certain placements of Mars ('kuja' or 'mangal' or 'angaraka') in a horoscope with respect to the Ascendent, the Moon, and Venus. Certainly, this 'dosh' or evil is dreaded by any father, particularly, of a girl! Mars in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or the 12th house causes this incompatibility. There are two flaws committed by most astrologers. One is to reckon the position of Mars in the 'Rasi' (sign) and not the 'Bhava' (house) while the other is to ignore to ascertain whether this 'dosh' exists from the Moon and Venus. The evil is stronger if it is from Venus, less stronger from the Moon, and least from the 'Lagna' (Ascendent).Further, not every position of the above-mentioned five placements will endanger the life of the spouse. The 2nd house signifies family, the 4th happiness, the 7th spouse, the 8th longevity, and the 12th pleasures of the bed. 'Kuja Dosh' gets annulled if it is present in both the horoscopes. There are several other exceptions which have to be carefully considered before declaring incompatibility of the horoscopes.

The Western astrologer can greatly benefit from a deeper understanding and application of the methods of compatibility adopted by his Indian counter-part and save the great number of disastrous marriages in the West which has an inerasable effect on the unfortunate off-springs of such marriages.Of course, the new Indian generation has started emulating the undesirable pre-mature practices of the West. They will do good to themselves and the nation if they try to fathom the time-tested value system of India and avoid the pitfalls of the Western society.

Chinese Astrology Compatibility

There is a belief amongst the Chinese community that those who are born four years apart are more compatible than those who are born six year apart. And those that are born 6 years apart are likely to be less compatible. Do you know why?

In the 12 Animals Zodiac system of astrology, our character is influenced by our year of birth. For example those born in the year of the rat are intelligent and suspicious while those born in the year of the horse are generous and loves freedom. Based on our year of birth we are imbued with certain characteristics that make us more of less compatible with each other.

According to the ancient Chinese, the Monkey, Rat and Dragon form a compatible set. They have characteristics that make them more compatible with each other. The other compatible sets are the Snake, Rooster and Ox; the Pig, Rabbit and Goat and the Tiger, Horse and Dog. If you check the year of birth you notice that they are four years apart. For example those born in 1964 are Rats, 1968 are Dragons and 1972 are Monkeys!

The Rat on the other hand is supposedly less compatible than the Horse. They form an incompatible set. The other incompatible sets are between Ox and Goat, Tiger and Monkey, Rabbit and Rooster, Dragon and Dog and between the Snake and Pig. If you check the year of birth you will notice that they are six year apart!

The Chinese astrology compatibility tools that you find on the Internet are largely based on the abovementioned principles of combination and clash. Most will also include more combinations and clashes that I have not mentioned above but I hope you get the idea.

What if you and your spouse form an incompatible set? Do not panic. Did you notice that I used the word ‘supposedly' many times? In practice our character is also heavily influenced by the month, day and hour of birth which is not taken into consideration in the above examples. Therefore it is entirely possible for a Rat person to display characteristics of other animals (influences from the month, day and hour of birth)!

In my practice, I have seen many supposedly incompatible sets of husbands and wives. They are still together after many years of marriage and some of them quite happily! Perhaps love plays a part too.

Ten Vital Bodies In Astrology

From the first time that humans looked toward the sky and began to chart the movement of the sun, moon and the planets, men have been assigning meaning to what they saw. It wasn’t enough to simply record where the sun moved, when an eclipse happened or when a planet was brightest, complex and varying stories and myths were given to each celestial event to help explain things that were happening in the observer’s own life.

If crops failed, it was blamed on the stars. If war broke out, it was blamed on the stars. Let’s take a look at ten of the heavenly bodies that astrologers assigned meaning to and what each body meant.

·The Sun – Not only was the sun the easiest body to see in the sky, it provided light, warmth and life. Most cultures saw the sun as a life giver, not vengeful or angry, but almost judgementless. A benign and powerful giver of life and wellness.

·The Moon – The moon, to many early astrologists, represented the unconscious mind and stood for emotion and desire. It often had a negative connotation, simply because it was thought the moon help power over the weak to indulge in their inner most desires. The old superstition of a full moon altering people’s behavior or even turning some into werewolves stems from the idea of the moon holding a mysterious power over one’s emotional side. The Moon is also associated with Monday, short for MoonDay.

·Mercury – This planet is named after the Roman messenger god of the same name and thus the planet Mercury is thought to be the body that rules things like communication, rationality and logic, as well as transport. It is thought to bring out people’s curious nature, as well as being vivacious and inconsistent. Mercury is thought to rule over Wednesday. In astrology practiced in China, Mercury is ruled over by the element of water. In India, Mercury stands for intelligence.

·Venus – Venus is one of the brightest objects in the sky after the sun and the moon. It is named after the Roman god of love and the planet is thought to control love in astrology. The planet is also thought to affect things like beauty, harmony and it plays an important role in people wanting or not wanting to get along. Throughout time and culture, Venus has represented peace, love and human potential. Venus is the planet for Friday and in Chinese astrology it is associated with metal.

·Mars – Maybe no other planet is better known than Mars. The planet’s place as bringer or war, aggression and terror is well known in most every culture. It is also associated with confidence and impulsiveness. Mars is usually associated with Tuesday and it is a fire element in Chinese astrology. Mars role as a bringer of war is apparent throughout human literature highlighted by H.G. Wells The War of the Worlds where invaders from Mars come to Earth to wipe out human civilization.

·Jupiter – The biggest planet in the solar system is associated with happiness and joy. Jupiter rules over Thursday and is also associated with higher education, religion and growth. Many also believe Jupiter plays a role in protection, since it does protect the Earth from many wayward comets and asteroids by using it’s gravitational pull to absorb many hits that would otherwise strike the Earth.

·Saturn – The final planet in the original seven planets that ruled astrology for years, Saturn is seen as cold and lifeless and is associated with ideas such as structure and sadness. In India, the planet is thought to bring bad luck. Saturn is tied in with the day Saturday and it is an Earth element in China.

·Uranus – While some astrologers don’t even acknowledge Uranus because it was not one of the original seven bodies, to the rest of the astronomers who have accepted it, Uranus stands for ideas and genius. It is also associated with controversial or extreme politics, as well as modern inventions. The association of Uranus with these things stems from the time of its discovery being so closely associated with the French Revolution and the American war for independence.

·Neptune – The interpretations of Neptune are all over the place. It can stand for spirituality and religion, just like Uranus, but it is also associated with drug use and altered mental states. The discovery of Neptune happened around the same time that anesthetics were discovered, hence the association with altered mental states.

·Pluto – While Pluto isn’t a planet anymore, it is still given astrological significance. It is associated with renewal and also associated with great and terrible power and corruption because of the time of its discovery coincided with the height of power of Stalin.

Astrology is filled with colorful and interesting stories about how heavenly bodies influence us. It may seem strange at first, but there might just be more of a link between these objects in the sky and human behavior than you might think.

Chinese Astrology Explained

Are you confused about the meanings of Chinese astrology? Would you like to know more about this 5000 year old art?

Chinese astrology is based on the lunar calendar. As with astrology from other cultures, a horoscope is created using the position of the stars and planets for each of the twelve signs of the zodiac based on the year of birth.

The Twelve Chinese Signs

Rat

Rats are charming and attractive to the opposite sex. But despite outside appearances, they are restless and this sometimes comes across as aggressiveness. Rats are great with money, and love to pounce on an opportunity. They are also very generous to their friends. They love people and large gatherings and always have others around. They also run in many intimate circles and like to be involved in everything they can, leading them to sometimes attempt to do too much. They are good writers and speakers, and success comes easily to them.

Ox

Oxen are calm on the surface, but have hidden tempers. They are hard workers and are determined to the point of stubbornness. However, this makes them one of the most dependable signs. They are trustworthy, and easily move up at the office. If they don't watch out, they may not have much of a social life. They are not very adept at mind games, and can sometimes be led astray in romance. But once they find someone, they are steadfast and loyal.

Tiger

Tigers are energetic and unpredictable. Their wild side leads them to be the center of attention. They speak their mind and are always looking for the new party or next great idea. They are also very involved in giving their time and money to the causes they are passionate about. They are generous and honest. However, they are also rebels. They seek ideals and will rebel against a society they perceive as being in the wrong. They are emotional and impulsive, prone to romance as well as jealousy.

Rabbit

Rabbits are gracious and gentle. They adore quiet and peacefulness, and prefer a good book to a night on the town. Their sensitivity can lead to moodiness, but normally rabbits are great at keeping the peace. While they are quiet on the surface, rabbits are good at finding deals. They are sweet and can talk people into being on their side of an issue without argument. While they are cautious, they can also be friendly and inviting once they feel safe.

Dragon

Dragons have fire. They are full of life, and want to live life to the fullest. They are perfectionists and are extremely demanding of both themselves and others. They intimidate those who disagree with them, although they are very loyal to their friends. They can be stubborn, but they will let you know how they feel. They believe themselves to be strong and loveable, and they strive to motivate everyone to live up to their standards.

Snake

Snakes are mysterious, often charming the opposite sex. They are graceful, and tend towards all things grand and cultural. They are private tend to look inward for their self-esteem, and are superstitious about everything. They are not penny-pinchers, but always have money on hand. Snakes are jealous when they find a lover, and will turn cold almost on a whim.

Horse

Horses are generally friendly. They love being the center of attention, and will keep others enthralled by their quick wit. However, they have malleable alliances, and will have many short-lived romances and friendships. They enjoy the change, and lead lives full of adventure. They don't like being tied down, and love working out and spending time outdoors. They don't like sticking to a plan, and will often take on too much. They can be impatient with others whom they perceive as moving too slowly.

Sheep

Sheep are peaceful people. They empathize with others' pain, and are easy to talk to. They don't like to rush, and will break if pressured. They do not like harsh words, and love to be led gently. While they are passive, they are also patient, and generally they eventually get their way. They always remember their friends and families and give thoughtful gifts. They often worry about what others think, and tend too spend too much.

Monkey

Monkeys are intuitive and clever. They are hands-on problem solvers, and a great deal of self-confidence. They enjoy succeeding at difficult tasks, and don't need to be talked into attempting one. The source of their success is their great memory. They are hard workers, and don't care what others think of them. They don't usually have many friends, although their success does attract people to them.

Rooster

Roosters are romantics. They are perfectionists and dreamers at the same time. Quick to see detail, they always love a challenge, especially if at first glance it looks impossible. They take great pride in knowing all the details of a subject that interests them, and are thus great debaters. However, they will never admit to being wrong. They also tend to step in and try to solve others' problems, whether or not they have been invited to do so. They like to always stay busy, and will work for whatever they have their eye on.

Dog

Dogs are friendly and are always up front about their feelings. They are very family-oriented and are extremely loyal to their friends. They will fight for a cause they feel is just. They are not comfortable around extravagant wealth, and prefer a loving home regardless of social status. Once you befriend a dog, they will be by your side for life. They are monogamous, and tend to choose their lovers wisely. They work hard and play hard, and know when it is appropriate to be doing one or the other. They are good providers to those they love.

Pig

Pigs love a social life. They have many friends, and tend to stay out of heated discussions and all kinds of debates. It's not that they don't have an opinion; they simply love to party and don't want to risk ruining the fun. They are good listeners, but are sometimes gullible and can be taken advantage of easily. This can sometimes hurt them in relationships. They are trustworthy and dependable, and stick by their friends. They are generous to those they care about.

The Five Elements

There is another layer to Chinese astrology that is less well known than the Chinese signs. Chinese astrologers use a 60 year cycle, made up of five sets of the twelve signs. The five repetitions of the signs each correspond to a different element, adding more intricacy to the animal.

The five elements are Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, and Earth.

In Chinese astrology, the elements are part of a cycle; one is not higher or better than another. In fact, they have a cyclical relationship, both in positive and negative ways, so that:

Water makes Wood
Wood makes Fire
Fire makes Earth
Earth makes Metal
Metal makes Water

and:

Water destroys Fire
Fire destroys Metal
Metal destroys Wood
Wood destroys Earth
Earth destroys Water

In addition, they can be openly aggressive and hostile:

Water resists Fire
Fire resists Metal
Metal resists Wood
Wood resists Earth
Earth resists Water

So now you know the basics of Chinese Astrology. Enjoy exploring your Chinese sign!
